As the cost of living keeps rising, we are finding more and more community members are not always able to meet their food needs. Our centres provide a safe and dignified place for community members to come to connect in a meaningful way, to open up and share their story and begin to explore ways to address their food insecurity.

Volunteer Material Aid Team Members (All duties) support the Team Leader in ensuring quality delivery of food program to community including preparation of food items, stocking and storing of food items, preparing food hampers for distribution.

Key responsibilities- Customer Service: With your friendly and engaging personality, ensure all customers are warmly greeted and are provided guidance to the store/pantry.- Stock handling: Unload donated food, unpack and stock shelves and fridge/freezer making sure that food and material aid items are stored correctly according to food safety guidelines. Assemble food packs/hampers as required.Qualifications and skills (desired/required)- Physical fitness and the ability to safely lift and carry is required for this role.- Interest in meeting new people with sensitivity and showing empathy are essential for this role.- Previous experience in customer service or connecting with people in a social setting is beneficial.

- The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. _Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check._
