The Driver MR Class provides operational support through provides efficient, safe, reliable, and courteous transport for community members who may be aged, disabled or experiencing other disadvantages. This role enables attendance of appointments and activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide quality transport service to clients who are aged, have an acquired brain injury, disabled and/or experiencing other disadvantages, to enable them to attend essential appointments and activities.
  • Assist clients to and from vehicle (avoiding undertaking physical lifting or personal care duties).
  • Assist clients by lifting walking frames to & from the vehicle.
  • Assist clients with seating adjustments and seat belts when requested.
  • Operate in a manner that promotes effective teamwork, good relationships with service providers, residents, and their families. Be prompt, courteous and respectful when interacting with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Safely transport clients to appointments on time, adhering to all road laws and regulations.
  • Notify the centre management if unavailable to work rostered shifts, within 24 hours of shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information of clients.
  • Always wear a supplied uniform and Security Identification Badge when undertaking TSA duties.
  • Monitor and rectify any health and safety concerns within the centre. Escalate issues that cannot be attended to the Manager.
  • Before each trip, collect keys, vehicle, and mobile telephone from designated area, check windscreen washer reservoir, fuel, oil and water levels and tyre pressure, and record all details in the vehicle's logbook.
  • At the end of each trip, clean and re-fuel vehicle, return vehicle to designated area, complete logbook details and report any difficulties, client issues or vehicle repair/maintenance issues to the Centre Manager.
  • At all times ensure the vehicle mobile telephone is switched on, is always contactable and is safely secured within the vehicle.

Qualifications and skills (desired/required)

  • Previous experience working in a similar role desirable
  • Current MR Drivers licence and good driving history required.

Background check requirements

Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies.

Below is what is required for this role:

  • As this role involves use of TSA vehicles, it requires a Police Check
  • This role requires a current Working with Children/Venerable People Check
