**The Role**:
The Finance Officer will play a key support role within the Financial Accounting and Reporting team with its primary purpose being to provide financial accounting and reporting support across Public Works and QBuild, a commercialised business unit of Public Works.
**The key responsibilities of the Finance Officer include**:

- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations accurately and on-time including investigation and resolution of variances or exceptions
- End of month and other journal preparation and processing
- Prepare information required for Inter-Business Unit (elimination) reconciliations
- Assist the team in providing timely and accurate financial accounting advice - Monitor and allocate incoming team requests and queries
- Provide support to the Senior Finance Officer and Principal Financial Accountants, as needed, in relation to financial reporting requirements across Public Works and QBuild.

**What we are looking for**:

- You have knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices for financial management which aligns with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- You demonstrate your receptiveness to changes in your client's requirements and have experience in consulting, liaising and negotiating with clients in a clear and concise manner through both verbal and written communication.
- You are experienced in assisting in the provision of accurate and timely financial services to the business areas, including analysis of established internal controls, maintaining financial systems, preparation of reports.
- You are proficient in the use of computerised financial accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- You contribute positively and proactively to the team's ability to achieve deadlines within agreed timeframes and competing priorities.
- You demonstrate public service professionalism and probity; and engage in continuous improvement of work practices, systems and processes.
