**The Company**
Sydmar Foods is a leading importer, distributor, and wholesaler of premium quality Mediterranean and international food products across Australia. We are passionate about delivering fresh, authentic, and high-quality products to retail and foodservice clients, including restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets.
As our business grows, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply and Distribution Manager to join our team and lead the end-to-end coordination of our supply chain operations.
**About the role**
The Supply and Distribution Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement, warehousing, inventory, and distribution functions of the company. The role requires strong planning, analytical, and leadership skills to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods while maintaining quality and compliance.
**As a part of this role your responsibilities will include**:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s supply chain and distribution strategies
- Manage purchasing activities with local and international suppliers to ensure timely delivery of stock
- Maintain and monitor optimal inventory levels based on sales forecasts and client demand
- Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory records and conduct regular stock audits
- Liaise with freight forwarders, customs agents, and logistics partners to manage shipping schedules and customs clearance
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, food safety standards, and company policies
- Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate pricing, delivery, and service agreements
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and supply chain optimization
- Supervise and lead warehouse staff and logistics team, ensuring adherence to workplace safety standards
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to align inventory planning with market trends and promotions
- Prepare regular reports on inventory, supplier performance, logistics KPIs, and operational efficiency
- Respond promptly to disruptions in supply and manage risk mitigation strategies
- Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business
**Skills and experience**
- Proven experience in logistics and distribution management (preferably in the food or FMCG industry)
- Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent (highly desirable)
- Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics, or related field, with a focus on procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
- Strong understanding of import/export regulations, warehousing, and cold chain logistics
- Experience working with ERP/inventory management systems
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Strong organisational and analytical abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Understanding of HACCP and food handling compliance (desirable)
