Work Health Safety Advisor

**Your new company**

Your new company is a part of local government, looking for a WHS Advisor to join their people & culture team on an initial contract of 3 months with a view to extension or permanency. This is a stand-alone role running a busy work health safety function with the support of the HR team.

**Your new role**

In your new role you will be responsible for:

- Development of WHS and IM policies, procedures and practices
- Facilitate the workers’ compensation claims management process from initial report through to claim closure
- Arrange early intervention contact in response to workplace injuries
- Establish Return to Work Plans in accordance with procedures
- Monitor worker compliance and document the progress of injured workers’ treatment and capacity to return to work
- Ensure staff are advised of all statutory obligations, regulations and ordinances of
- Participate in and provide advice and guidance to WHS Committee and elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)
- Lead and monitor projects to improve WHS and IM practices

**What you'll need to succeed**

In order to succeed you will ideally hold:

- Relevant WHS qualification
- Experience in a similar position
