The Global Legal mission is to provide legal support and advice with the goal of managing and mitigating legal risk for the company and acting as a partner to our internal business clients supporting any legal needs that arise on a day to day basis.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Provides strategic legal advice and support on a broad range of matters including general commercial and corporate matters.
- Legal oversight of local investment matters with strong ability to collaborate and leverage global legal team for appropriate expertise
- Administration and management of legal documentation and matters, including investment, fund, and corporate and licensing
- Management of compliance with regulatory obligations
- Corporate governance oversight
- Engaging and managing external law firms
- Role model our Barings values and establish a culture of mutual respect and collaboration
**Qualifications**
- Bachelors of Laws (or equivalent)
- Australian practicing certificate
- Minimum 6 years PQE, either in-house or a major law firm
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interact and build effective relationships with internal and external partners
- High level of personal and professional integrity
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines while paying attention to details, ensuring a high standard of work
- Ability to anticipate, improvise, and adapt for optimal resolutions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, and use independent and professional judgment with mínimal supervision
- Must be willing to comply with the provisions of Baring's Code of Ethics related to personal securities activities and other disclosure and certification requirements
