**Your new role**

The department is delivering a digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems.

We are looking for an experienced people leader with deep software development background to lead a team of cross-functional specialists working on a range of projects. As a Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for the overall performance of your team, work with the Product Owner to help prioritise and determine your team’s roadmap and report progress against objectives.

In this role you will,
- First and foremost, you’re a people leader: you will have line management responsibility for a big team (typically between 8 and 10 people) of technology specialists, mostly software engineers, in a cross-functional team.
- You will enjoy mentoring and coaching, working closely with your team to identify skill gaps, establish professional development plans and conduct regular performance reviews (both formal and informal)
- You will enjoy having positive impacts on culture, and work to build engagement and motivation within your team
- You will closely with the Product team, you’ll help develop the product roadmap, prioritise deliverables and contribute to effort estimations to help plan the delivery schedule
- Contribute to release planning for your team’s projects
- As a part of the wider engineering leadership group, you’ll represent your team, keeping the group up to date with your team’s progress towards quarterly objectives, identify and manage risks and help remove blockers for other teams
- With a deep technical background, you’ll provide expert advice and thought leadership on technical design, implementation and architecture choices, ensuring they align to the department standards and strategies

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a delivery lead or similar role, preferably in a mobile development environment
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams, with a focus on delivering high-quality mobile solutions
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and coaching a team of technical specialists, directly or indirectly, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement
- Practical experience of agile software delivery methodologies
- A passion for keeping up to date with the ever-changing world of software development, including both technical and non-technical advancements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great communication, influencing and coaching skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and solve problems
- A well-developed sense of empathy for your customers, both internal and external
- Industry-based accreditation such as ITIL or SAFe is highly desirable
