**Boost your Income**
On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn at least $236/day tax-free.
Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.
**Eligibility**:
For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
- If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
- Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
**For the specific roles, you must**:
- **Electrical Technician**: Be a qualified Electrical Technician having completed an approved apprenticeship or approved traineeship at a recognised institution, as well the full-time employment requirement for that trade
- **Electrician**: Be a qualified Electrician, having completed an approved apprenticeship or approved traineeship at a recognised Australian institution, as well as the full-time employment requirement for that trade
- **Metalsmith**: Be a qualified Welder 1st Class, Boilermaker Marker Off, Boilermaker Welder or Sheet Metal Worker having completed an approved apprenticeship or approved traineeship at a recognised institution as well as the full-time employment requirement for that trade
- **Plumber**:Be a qualified Plumber, having completed an approved apprenticeship or approved traineeship at a recognised institution, as well as the full-time employment requirement for that trade.
