**About the Position**

The Operations Unit is responsible for the management and maintenance of the City’s parks, environments, fleet, street, and waste services. The Sanitation/Street Cleaning Worker role undertakes refuse removal services and street cleaning that complies with the City’s specified work standards. These services are provided to both residential and commercial customers, through dayshift and nightshift arrangements.

Equally important to handling a heavy rigid waste truck, is the ability to operate as part of a team and provide high-quality customer service to residents, and members of the public, including tourists, shopkeepers, and visitors.

The Sanitation/Street Cleaning Worker supports the City by:

- Operating and driving a waste collection truck and compactor that has three axles.
- Emptying refuse and recycling bins, as well as street litter bins.
- Handling cleaning equipment including road and footpath sweepers, hand blowers, and high-pressure cleaning equipment.
- Ensuring safe and compliant work practices in accordance with Western Australian Work Health and Safety legislation, as well as the City’s safe systems of work.
