**Why Your Role Matters**:
The Research Fellow will be responsible for development of an immunopeptidomics and metabolomics pipeline utilising Mass Spectrometry.
The primary function of this position is to conduct laboratory work to support research projects aiming to assess potential drivers of long COVID (Post Acute Sequalae of COVID-19). Additional responsibilities include performing Flow Cytometric and Next-Generation Sequencing analyses.
This position is within the Immunovirology and Pathogenesis Program and reports to the Senior Lecturer.
**Skills and Experience**:
**At Level A**
- A PhD in biomedical sciences, Immunology or a similar relevant field, and/ or relevant work experience.
- Expertise in conducting Mass Spectrometry experiments, particularly in Immunopeptidomics. A thorough understanding of antigen presentation and T cell recognition mechanisms is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular and cell biology with a focus on infectious diseases, including in the development and conduct of qPCR, ELISAs, Flow Cytometry and multi-bead serological assays.
- Strong skills in data and specimen management and quantitative analysis with a statistical analysis package (e.g. PRISM and R).
- Demonstrated experience writing and publishing peer-reviewed journal articles and/or reports for non-expert stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
**At Level B (in addition to the above)**:
- Track record in publication and presentation of research.
- Demonstrated Involvement in preparing grants for research.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
