The Lowy Institute is seeking a
Research Fellow
to work within the
Pacific Islands Program
team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Research Fellow will conduct their own independent policy-relevant research and coordinate external research expertise on critical issues affecting the Pacific Islands region. In addition to producing original high-impact research, the Research Fellow will promote their work by contributing to and participating in a range of outreach activities, including events and media commentary (in the Australian and international media). The Research Fellow will liaise with a range of stakeholders, including government, non-government organisations and the corporate sector.

The position is full-time based in Sydney, Australia, for a period of six months, starting ASAP.

ABOUT YOU

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or higher in international relations, political science, security studies, development, or a similar discipline.

The successful candidate will have excellent research and communication skills, both written and oral. They will demonstrate experience in research, government, policymaking and/or industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Pacific Islands foreign policy and regional political, security, economic, or development issues. They will have strong links within the Pacific and Australia across government, business and academia, and an international expert profile.
