**About North East Link**
The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
**About the Opportunity**:
Join Spark North East Link as a Health and Safety Advisor and play a key role in creating a culture of safety excellence on one of Victoria's most significant infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you will support and coordinate safety practices, systems, and procedures while ensuring compliance and promoting a safe, productive work environment.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Promote risk awareness and actively participate in risk management to improve workplace practices.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and management system requirements by setting the standard and leading by example.
- Maintain open and honest communication to foster a proactive safety culture across teams.
- Prepare and maintain safety reports and documentation to support project safety programs.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and monitor work areas for compliance.
- Investigate and evaluate safety incidents and propose solutions to address concerns.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors, consultants, and the client.
- Communicate clear expectations, provide support, and hold team members accountable for safety standards.
- Maintain visibility across the workplace and offer hands-on support to project teams.
- Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and Spark North East Link’s policies and processes.
- Actively contribute to a high-performance safety culture in alignment with the project’s Culture Charter and Mantras.
**Minimum Requirements for the role**:
- Diploma or tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Experience in the construction industry with a strong work ethic and a team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
- A detail-oriented professional with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and work independently.
SPARK is committed to equal employment opportunity (EEO) and actively seeks to remove barriers people may face in gaining a successful position on the North East Link Central Package. We value diversity, inclusion and equity through providing a working environment where all employees feel included, valued, and free to bring their different skills, experiences and perspectives.
