**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

**Environment**
Through leadership and influence, the NHVR administers a national system that delivers consistent and streamlined
regulatory services and administration to the Australian heavy vehicle road transport sector, reducing regulatory burden
whilst enabling greater safety and productivity.
Within the NHVR the Operations Division ensures the continued and improved effectiveness of operational processes
and transactions for customers and service users of the NHVR. The division is accountable for operational safety and
compliance functions across NHVR.**
**Primary Objective**
Provide effective and timely support the Director Central Region and Leadership Team on matters impacting the delivery
of key priorities for the region including the planning, coordination and development of business plans, financial
management and resource management.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Plan and prioritise work and activities of the Central Region to enable the efficient flow of issues and
correspondence, establishing appropriate priorities and successful delivery of outcomes.
- Work with the leadership team to identify issues and opportunities that may affect the NHVR and its ability to
fulfil its regulatory role, purpose, and objectives.
- Develop, review, monitor and/or assist in research, analysis, recommendations and responses in key areas, such
as internal and external meetings, conferences, workshops, general correspondence, policy and briefing material
for the region including critical and sensitive matters.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including
government agencies and industry.
- Monitor key deliverables and priorities as directed by the Director Central Region in relation to activities of the
region and manage any risks that may impact on delivery of outcomes.
- Manage and maintain the risk register relevant to the region.
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and health work environment.

**Skills and Capabilities**
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and
external stakeholders and negotiate and influence outcomes at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and coordinate multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated high levels of written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- High level proficiency in using a range of systems and technology platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain financial and organisation plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of people to provide consistent, responsive, and high-quality
