**About the Role**

We are in over 600 cities worldwide, and that’s why we are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven **Director of Legal, Labor & Employment APAC** to help support our growing business across the region.

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a global legal team integral to a company engaged in cutting edge technology and focused on solving some of the biggest challenges in the world - including changing the way regulators, courts and legislators think about the future of work. This position will report directly to the
**Associate General Counsel, APAC **based in Singapore.

**What You’ll Do**
- Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing diverse team of employment lawyers and legal professionals in the APAC region.
- Provide critical and proactive legal and strategic advice on a wide range of complex issues relating to Uber’s business model and its relationship with earners. It's our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
- Provide practical legal advice on the full range of employment decisions relating to recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, compensation, benefits, and terminations in APAC.
- Be a thought leader and partner in the development of Uber’s future of work strategy in APAC.
- Manage regulatory investigations and litigation that relate to the classification of earners on the Uber App, including unfair dismissal claims, workers compensation and health and safety.
- Balance the need for rigorous compliance with pragmatic, creative advice to move the business forward and allow for continuous innovation and development of products.
- Be a key member of the APAC and People Leadership Team and a trusted advisor and partner to senior business leadership inside and outside the region.
- Take responsibility for ensuring we have the right processes and tools available to enable the team’s capability to scale as the business does, including the use and implementation of appropriate technology solutions.
- Be a strong people leader, and effectively manage a high-performing, diverse team and outside counsel to achieve our legal priorities.
- Efficiently manage the APAC Employment Legal team’s budget, managing outside counsel and ensuring compliance with outside counsel guidelines.

**Who You Are**
- Significant and relevant post-qualification experience at a top law firm or in-house (ideally 12+ years, with some material in-house experience).
- Strong academic credentials and law degree from a top law school or university.
- Demonstrable and material experience of leading, developing and inspiring high performing legal teams.
- Excellent business judgment, communication, diplomatic and interpersonal skills (with a high level of emotional intelligence).
- Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead.
- Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice, to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues, and to interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives and other colleagues and professionals across our company.
- Must be a strategic thinker with genuine and demonstrable business acumen in addition to a legal expert. Excellent judgment, outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills to inspire and influence employees at every level and build trust throughout the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and influence, persuade, and build consensus at a senior executive level as well as thrive in high impact/high profile situations.
- Ability to think on your feet and make quick decisions.
- Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability.
