A day in the life: *
This role requires the skills and temperament needed to work in a very flexible, agile, self-managed fashion. You will oversee the ongoing execution, governance, and maturity of the alerting and monitoring. You will facilitate the reporting of your portfolio for leaders and stakeholder audiences using scorecards, metrics, and measures to demonstrate progress and promote alignment.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Actively championing monitoring, alerting, dashboarding and logging across the organisation.
- Set the standards for the organisation around observability and associated software.
- Working with third party vendors
- Ensure observability is developed as code and implemented consistently across the software development life cycle.
- Performing and coordinating the design and ensuring the correct implementation of observability reporting and controls.
- Working with squads to help technology teams to identify and verify possible points of failure and resilience concerns in solutions.
- Being an SME on business continuity, risk, compliance, for the technology teams.
- Build and maintain strong client and team relationships and support the building of the business continuity and risk culture of the business.
- Ownership of observability tool set.
- Ownership of observability processes and procedures.
- Assisting with regulatory and internal audits.
- Assisting Technology with requirements of the business continuity management framework.
- Supporting Technology to respond to and manage any incidents that arise.
- Assisting Technology with requirements of the third-party risk management framework.
**Key Skills & Experience**:
- Expert in observability such as SignalFX/Grafana/Prometheus for metrics, Elastic/Splunk for logging, New Relic/AppDynamics for APM
- Experience with public cloud operators specifically AWS
- Work with other teams to gather Observability requirements and implement strategy
- Ability to deliver multiple initiatives/projects simultaneously and autonomously with a sense of urgency.
- Polished written and oral communicator across management and executive levels of the organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce supported by appropriate post-graduate qualifications and/or industry accreditation/certification.
