**NSW Primary Prevention Advisory Group**

**Seeking Expressions of Interest - Office of the Women's Safety Commissioner**

**Purpose of the Primary Prevention Advisory Group**

The Primary Prevention Advisory Group (**the Advisory Group**) is being established to provide strategic advice to NSW Government on the implementation of _Pathways to Prevention: the NSW Strategy for the Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence 2024-2028_ (**the Strategy**) and other primary prevention related activities in NSW.

The Advisory Group will play an important role in linking government and the community, providing prevention expertise, and shaping pathways to prevention.

The Advisory Group will meet at least 4 times per year to:

- Draw on DFSV sector expertise to provide advice and assistance on the implementation of the Strategy.
- Provide NSW Government with advice on emerging issues or trends in the NSW primary prevention sector.
- Provide advice about policy and programs relating to primary prevention in NSW.
- Support change by providing leadership on primary prevention initiatives in priority settings.
- Work collaboratively with other DFSV governance groups to impact change on shared priority work areas as appropriate and with support from the Office of the Women’s Safety Commissioner.

**Note**:Advisory Group members are not remunerated.**

**Who should apply**
- Have expertise in or responsibility for the delivery of logical and sustainable primary prevention initiatives in NSW (both separately and under the Strategy).
- Have expertise in the drivers of DFSV and strategies that can address these drivers.
- Can actively contribute to the NSW Government’s efforts to address the underlying drivers of DFSV.
- Sexual violence sector, particularly with regard to:

- consent and respectful relationships,
- sexual violence prevention in the nighttime economy,
- sexual violence prevention in public spaces,
- the drivers of sexual violence, and
- cohorts that are overrepresented in sexual violence statistics
- Connecting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Running community initiatives in prevention
- Working in primary prevention in rural and remote locations
- NSW local government
- Education
- Engaging men and boys
- Relevant academia or research.

**Diversity**

The Department of Communities and Justice will aim for the membership of the Advisory Group to reflect the diversity of the community as a whole. Particular attention will be given to the representation of Aboriginal people, people with disability, young people, LGBTQIA+ community, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people from regional areas.

Successful applicants will be recommended for appointment by the Hon Jodie Harrison MP, Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and can hold a term of up to two years.

Successful appointees will be required to undergo a police check.
