Seeking a passionate and collaborative Ecology Manager to join Consult Australia’s Medium Consultancy of the Year
Building on our 30-year history, you will lead our well-established Ecology team in Western Australia and help write the next chapter from our Perth office conveniently and centrally located on the South Perth Esplanade.
With the opportunity to lead, grow, and diversify Umwelt’s ecological work profile and ecological services in Western Australia, you will work collaboratively with our National Ecology Leader and WA Regional Manager on the development and implementation of your strategy to maintain and enhance our reputation in WA and across the nation.
This role will also work closely with our WA Senior Principal and Technical Lead who has pre-eminent experience over 30 years in the ecology field in WA.
As a genuine values-based leader, you will manage and drive a strong team of skilled and passionate Ecologists, inspiring them to continue to deliver quality projects and outcomes, providing leadership in a manner consistent with our values. In consultation with other relevant managers, you will be responsible for the management of resources for the delivery of Umwelt’s ecology projects and services in Western Australia.
**About you**
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Ecology Manager or Principal Ecologist who has:
- A degree or post graduate qualification in environmental science, botany, zoology, environmental management, or other related discipline
- Previous relevant team leadership and/or management experience in a consultancy environment
- Excellent relevant technical leadership skills, including strong peer review abilities
- Strong understanding of business functions and relevant KPIs for success
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation/policies/guidelines
- Inclusive leader with the ability to relate to employees and key stakeholders at all levels and place a priority on building and developing a team and peers
- Demonstrated excellence in building strong and trusted relationships with clients
- Demonstrated competency in business development
- Knowledge and experience within the ecology service line
- Track record of delivering ecological projects on time and within budget
- Ability to make commercial and operational decisions that drive sustained business success
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership capabilities
- The ability to be a creative and innovative thinker
- Curiosity, resilience, and empathy
