**North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) **is committed to making healthcare more accessible and culturally relevant. With the recent addition of Victoria’s first Medically Supervised Injecting Room, NRCH works with community members to support social justice principles which afford all people the right to dignity, respect, and the highest quality of care.
NRCH provides a range of medical, allied health, dental and community services to clients from all backgrounds.
**Harm Reduction Practitioner (HRP) Assistant Team Leader role (part-time fixed-term)** is a member of the Medically Supervised Injection Room (MSIR) Management Team, providing direct line management for HRP staff and operational leadership for the MSIR through the Duty Manager role. You will provide best practice Harm Reduction and client engagement guidance through mentorship, education and training to ensure staff operate in accordance with best AOD clinical practice and harm reduction strategies. This position is accountable to and works under the general direction and guidance of the HRP Team Leader.
**Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Lead HRP staff planning, rostering and staff support activities
- Complete performance appraisals as well as Performance and Development Plans for HRP staff as directed by the HRP Team Leader
- Support staff in service provision activities, including a clearly communicated staff handover between shifts to ensure high quality, safe, service provision and staff wellbeing
- Uphold and promote the dignity of all people who use the service at NRCH as well as promote awareness and understanding in the community
- Act as the MSIR Emergency Response Coordinator and Fire Warden as required
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff in delivering best AOD clinical practice and harm reduction strategies to clients at the MSIR
- Support the operations and strategic direction of the MSIR as a member of the MSIR Management Team
- Manage operational matters that require MSIR Management intervention or escalation to the Program Manager or Medical Director as required
**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**
**Essential qualifications, attributes and skills include, but are not limited to**:
- Tertiary degree in relevant field or equivalent, including health sciences, social science, social work, community development, paramedicine, AOD, welfare, psychology, etc.
- Maintain up to date CPR and/or First Aid training
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff with diverse experience and skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction practice, including understanding the co-occurrence of mental health conditions with a harm reduction framework
