Exciting opportunity to join Forensic Intervention Services as the Principal Clinician Practice with the Restorative Justice portfolio on an ongoing basis.
Our work in Forensic Intervention Services (FIS) starts with the belief that every person has the capacity to change and deserves the opportunity to make that change. By building connections with people who have offended (we call them service users) based on trust, professionalism, and empathy, we enable violent and sexual offenders to come to terms with their behaviour and develop insights that lead to better choices and a more constructive role in the community at the end of their sentence.

What does Forensic Intervention Services do?
As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area that provides service users in custody and in the community with evidence-based screening, assessment, and offence-specific intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
What will the Principal Clinician Practice (Restorative Justice) do?
- Proactively identify and respond to complex strategic issues impacting on the delivery of clinical services and restorative justice referrals.
- Actively maintain existing Internal and external stakeholder relationships and develop new relationships that support the effectiveness of Forensic Intervention Services practices
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports, briefings and submissions
- Drive practice improvements to maximise clinical effectiveness and continuous improvement
This role will require travel and the delivery of after-hours services.
What skills should the Principal Clinician Practice, Restorative Justice have?
- Highly developed understanding of and extensive practice experience in the fields of forensic service system, and Restorative Justice practices
- Experience in managing complex projects and processes
- Expertise in undertaking risk assessment and offence specific interventions, including facilitation of group programs based on cognitive behavioural therapy
- Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to negotiate and influence on highly complex issues
Eligibility
To apply, you'll need to hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:
- General registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Be registered as a nurse and be eligible to be credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse
- Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field
- Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor status is desirable.
