**About the role**
- Seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our busy Microbiology Department. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory, contributing to accurate and timely results that support patient care across Queensland. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

- Processing and preparation of microbiology specimens
- Preparing and setting up cultures for Vitek testing and other identification systems
- Assisting with culture plate reading and routine diagnostic techniques
- Performing data entry and maintaining accurate laboratory records
- Supporting scientists and supervisors to ensure efficient daily workflow
- Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and NATA accreditation standards

**About you**
- To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:

- Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory (highly regarded)
- Familiarity with automated identification and susceptibility platforms (e.g., Vitek) desirable
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
