**Job Description** Animal Attendant | Casual Positions**

The Veterinary Referral Hospital is one of Victoria's largest multidisciplinary hospitals with a number of Veterinary Specialists, across 6 different disciplines, including Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Anaesthesia as well as 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care. Our Specialists are supported by a large number of highly skilled associate Vets and Veterinary interns as well as an incredible team of Vet Nurses, Animal Attendants and administrative staff who help the hospital provide gold standard care 24/7, 365 days of the year.

**The Animal Attendant position**:
We are currently looking for Animal Attendants to join us at VRH for our busiest time of the year to assist our dedicated teams of Vets and Nurses in keeping the hospital clean, our treatment spaces stocked and ensuring everything continues to operate like a well-oiled machine Our Animal Attendants are integral in ensuring that our hospital stays presentable, our facilities are maintained, and our patients can continue to receive the best care possible.

**To be successful in this position you must possess the following attributes**:

- A team player but able to work autonomously when required
- Be able to work comfortably in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to suit the needs of the hospital. As no single day is ever the same, adaptability is a must
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task

This role will involve shifts rostered across 7 days of the week with extra emphasis on Friday - Sunday. Shift times may be anywhere between the hours of 7:30am to 10:30pm.

**Duties will include but not be limited to**:

- Cage cleaning and re-setting
- Maintaining cleanliness of floors in treatment and ward spaces
- Walking, feeding and offering water to patients under nurse instruction
- Assisting in unpacking disposable (needles, syringes etc) and pharmacy (medication) orders under nurse instruction
- Maintaining cleanliness of hospital areas throughout the day/evening as required
- Daily laundry upkeep and restocking
- Cleaning of patient dishes
