**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
The Mercy Perinatal Genetics Unit aspires to be a leading tertiary referral service for complex pregnancies, where genetic counselling is provided to women and their families. Mercy Hospital for Women is a public hospital based in Heidelberg and part of GeNE (Genetics of the North East).

The Genetic Counsellor will see women from the North East corridor and beyond where women have received an increased risk or a diagnosis of a foetal/genetic abnormality. The Genetic Counsellor will also see women who have a family history of a genetic condition. This role is to ensure that this patient group receive appropriate care and psychological support.
- Full-time position, 8.30am - 5.00pm.
- To provide counselling to patients and their families concerned about genetic defects.
- Support for and co-ordination of referrals where necessary for women with diagnosed genetic and foetal abnormalities according to protocols.
- The Genetic Counsellor will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with other counsellors and medical geneticists.
- Salary Range $35.76 - $52.63 an hour

**ABOUT YOU**:

- Certification in Genetic Counselling by the Human Genetics Society of Australasia Part 1.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organisational ability and a capacity to work well within a team are required.
