**Role Scope**:
- To provide high quality liaison between the Department of Seniors, Disability Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and the Office of the Minister, ensuring enquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
- To develop and monitor efficient and effective administrative systems between the Office of the Minister and the department to ensure that effective and timely liaison occurs between all areas.
**Key responsibilities of this role**:
- Provide an efficient and effective administrative linkage between the department and the Minister's Office to ensure the provision and flow of high quality, accurate and relevant information.
- Provide quality liaison support to the Minister, Director-General and other senior managers, ensuring that they are provided with accurate and timely information to enable them to deal with current and emerging issues that are impacting on the portfolio.
- Develop and monitor efficient and effective systems between the portfolio and the Minister's Office to ensure effective liaison, while establishing and maintaining an effective network of officers both within the department and across government who may be called upon to compile responses for the Director-General and Minister at short notice.
- Maintain close liaison between the department and the Minister's Office and implement mechanisms to ensure there is ready access to information on significant issues throughout the department, while continuing to provide a liaison and support role for the Minister's Office in other forums as required.
- Respond to public enquiries in a diplomatic, prompt and appropriate manner and initiate referrals to the department where necessary, investigating and providing advice in response to enquiries/complaints on sensitive and confidential departmental issues.
- Liaise with members of parliament, ministerial and parliamentary staff, senior managers and staff, representatives of non-government service providers and members of the public on complex and sensitive issues.
- Undertake research and provide advice to the Director-General and Minister's Office on relevant departmental activities, and prepare briefings, reports and other submissions for the Director-General and the Minister's Office on complex and sensitive departmental issues.
