Canberra, Australia IPA Personnel Services Full time

IPA are a leading supplier of recruitment solutions to the Australian Government. On behalf our Federal Government client, we are seeking the services a Preservation and Storage Assistant for a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.

**The required tasks include**:

- retrievals, returns and physical management of records for the mass digitisation of a range of formats including, paper files, plans, and photographs
- the creation and updating of data in electronic information systems
- administrative tasks associated with the project
- work closely with other staff (observing any Covid-19-related and other work health and safety requirements)
- provide services relating to the repackaging of archival objects, physical relocation and retrievals
- prepare routine documentation and correspondence using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word and Excel)
- Accurately enter and retrieve data from electronic systems within established procedures and practices
- Undertake manual handling tasks, such as lifting and moving records using supplied equipment (eg. Pallet jack, trolley, ladder)
- handle original World War II service files - auditing, packing, relocating and updating location details for files that are to be digitised.
- Other administrative tasks as required

This role is working in a high volume, routine and physical environment and requires physical fitness, to be able to lift a stable weight of 7 kilograms to shoulder height.

**Required skills**:

- Computer skills, experience working with Excel and data bases
- Understanding of Archival process
- Experience in a cultural collecting environment is desirable
- Desire to learn and contribute to a positive team environment
