Australian Museum (AM) is located on the homelands of the Gadigal people. The AM acknowledges and pays respect to the Gadigal people as the custodians of the land, sky and waterways, paying respect to Elders past, present.

The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Enterprise, Investment & Trade cluster. It is the first museum in Australia, founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 22 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

The Museum at 1 William Street is an epic place of discovery, enjoyed by wide ranges of audiences. The Building Services Department is responsible for maintaining the Museum’s buildings on this and other sites to the highest standards, in sympathy with their heritage status, and ensuring the delivery of essential services such as cleaning, mechanical and electrical operation of the building.

**About the role**

These are exciting times for our Technology Team at the Australian Museum, as we strengthen our underlying collections and network systems, expand our digital audiences and reach, and as part of a ground-breaking collections enhancement project, vastly expand our digital, video and multimedia content for sharing with our audiences.

The Associate Director of Technology leads and develops the Museum’s technology strategy, planning and implementation; ensures alignment of operational frameworks, standards and processes based on industry leading practices; and is responsible for improving the resilience and performance across the Museum’s systems and digital platforms, building the capability of the Technology team, supporting the community of Museum technology users, and ensuring that the Museum is able continually to improve and grow our digital reach and impact.

**About you**

The successful applicant will be creative, forward-thinking and business-minded, with experience of managing successful teams and complex technology environments.

You will have
- a broad and excellent understanding of network systems, cyber resilience, line of business products, online technology and emerging technology trends
- experience and skills at planning for success, innovating, building effective strategic relationships and developing and delivering projects and improvements, in line with budget and business plans to ensure we are derive best value for our significant investment in technology
- strong leadership skills to inspire direction and purpose, and lead the newly restructured ICT team
- extensive experience in a senior ICT leadership role, and previously liaised and communicated with senior level executives or board of directors
- high level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to difficult and complex problems
- the capabilities to build strong rapport and relationships with internal and external stakeholders

**Essential requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant IT or related discipline or significant experience in performing the function.
