**The Opportunity**

This opportunity is to work in the role of Deputy Communications Intelligence Security Officer (D/COMSO) within Intelligence Policy and Liaison (IPL) Section, providing support to the COMSO by managing compartment briefings and debriefings as well as managing Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). Effectively and securely providing advice in relation to intelligence handling as a key function of IPL’s role in coordinating DFAT’s use of intelligence.

As an experienced professional, you are self-motivated, possess sound judgement and can operate under limited supervision. You work well in a team environment and are committed to building strong interpersonal stakeholder relationships.
We are looking for someone highly organised, prioritising tasks effectively with meticulous attention to detail and security requirements. This role requires high level verbal and written communication as well as a positive can-do attitude. Ideally you will already have a Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance, or a willingness to obtain one.

**Key duties**
The D/COMSO is responsible for:

- Liaising with National Intelligence Community (NIC) agencies regarding security requirements relevant to access and handling intelligence reporting
- Managing access to and accreditation of SCIFs in line with relevant security requirements
- Auditing intelligence material in the Department and handling security incidents in relation to intelligence material
- Destroying intelligence material in line with relevant government policies and frameworks
