**About the unit**:
The Child Inpatient Unit at the Austin is one of two acute inpatient units in Victoria (along with Monash Health's OASIS Unit). Children are admitted to the Unit who may be experiencing significant acute and complex emotional, psychological and/or social difficulties and usually have had some outpatient treatment prior to admission. The unit staff work with the child, the parents and the family in a strengths based whole of family approach strengthening family relationships.
The Austin School is an integral part of the Child Unit service model. Teachers keep the child connected to their home school or provide them with alternate education.
**About the role**:
The team who you will work with are committed to working with children their families/carers and the systems around them and are strong advocates for the rights of children. A compassionate model of mental health care involving specialist assessment and treatment( parent, individual and family) is the specialty of the unit.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Mental Health Clinician to join the multi disciplinary team on the Child Unit. This is a permanent full time role. The case manager role carries a case load and co ordinates care provision to the children admitted to the unit as well facilitating individual and parent sessions.
