Tree Management will lead the provision of environmental planning and approvals to support the timely delivery of the Hazardous Tree and Electric Line Clearance programs. The role is also responsible for providing clear and practical work instructions and environmental controls to contractors, and for undertaking reporting and monitoring activities where required. The role will work closely with existing environmental and program coordination roles within the client infrastructure team to support delivery of risk-based tree management programs.

The role is also responsible for providing clear and practical work instructions and environmental controls to contractors, and for undertaking reporting and monitoring activities where required. The role will work closely with existing environmental and program coordination roles within the client infrastructure team to support delivery of risk-based tree management programs.

**The main responsibilities for this position will be as follows;**
- Assessment of arborist reports relating to the Hazardous Tree and Electric Line Clearance inspection programs and provision of required environmental approvals, permits and controls
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential impacts on biodiversity arising from tree management programs
- Providing expert advice and guidance to maintenance teams on environmental and tree management best practices
- Monitoring and reporting on the biodiversity outcomes of Hazardous Tree Management and Electric Line Clearance activities
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations related to biodiversity conservation and management and incorporating them into maintenance operations as appropriate.
- Preparing FFG and EPBC referrals for works that are likely to significantly impact on protected flora or fauna
- Balancing competing interests between rail safety, risk-based standards, and biodiversity protection
- Manage high workload and prioritise tasks based on risk.
- Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Natural Resource Management or related discipline
- Experience in the preparation of reports relating to bushland management or environmental investigation
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in biodiversity conservation
- Strong understanding of biodiversity conservation principles and practices as well as relevant laws and regulation.
