**Who we are**
The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security and emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.

The National Leasing and Engagement Section leads the department’s strategic approach to property acquisitions, management and disposals, property financial management and compliance and property engagement and communication activities.

**The Jobs**
The duties of the roles include, but are not limited to:

- assisting with the delivery of the department’s strategic approach to its property portfolio covering property lease acquisitions, management and disposals
- assisting with property lease negotiations, acquisitions and divestments
- assisting in the development of leasing strategies to support asset management priorities and property efficiencies through reduction of footprint and/or lease savings
- preparing written submissions, briefs, reports and other correspondence with stakeholders to support property-related decisions
- maintaining leasing data to support management of the department’s property portfolio whilst ensuring contract compliance and optimisation of the property portfolio
- undertaking procurements required to support leasing, acquisitions, divestments and property related activities
- working in collaboration with the department’s Property Service Provider in relation to leasing activities, including providing strategic leasing direction, monitoring critical dates performance, assessing commercial outcomes, providing accurate and timely leasing submissions and achieving compliance with Commonwealth requirements
- contributing to the development and implementation of robust frameworks, policies and guidelines owned by the Property and Security Branch
- providing strategic advice and assistance to Senior Executives and stakeholders based on technical expertise in one or more role specific disciplines
- engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation
- contributing to the identification, development and implementation of opportunities to improve business management practices and processes.

**Please note** that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill two vacancies in the National Leasing and Engagement Section and that these roles may be able to be performed from any of the locations on the job description. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
