**Imaginative Care Limited is looking to recruit Direct Carers for a residential care role on a casual basis (20 to 38 hours a week).**

**Roles located in South Brisbane QLD, North Brisbane QLD and North Lakes.**

**Previous youth work experience is highly desirable**

The Direct Carer role is a challenging yet extremely rewarding role. In this role, you will support individuals to have the **most fulfilling life **possible by assisting them to **thrive** in their day-to-day routine and see them reach their **planned goals.**

**Your duties will include**:
A Direct Care Worker undertakes frontline shifts by providing supervision and support for people with disabilities or young people and are expected to deliver other roles, such as:

- Supporting clients with a range of complex needs, some of which may include: nonverbal, vision or sensory impaired, a history of complex, developmental trauma, and who display challenging behaviours; and, providing this support in a therapeutic, trauma informed way which minimises the use of restraints /restrictive practices and supports the participant’s human rights;
- Providing personal care;
- Reading medication charts;
- Understanding and following NDIS Plans;
- Building clients’ independence using a person-centred approach at home and in the community;
- Utilising the participants Positive Behaviour Support Plan to create a therapeutic environment in which participants with challenging behaviours can be replaced with more developmentally appropriate, pro-social behaviours;
- Conducting light domestic duties and meal preparation;
- Creating structure and routine for participants, including nutritious meals;
- Providing transportation as part of the individual care and support plan;
- Supporting participants to access the community;
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, and comfort in the home environment;
- Adherence and role modelling of safe workplace health and safety legislation;
- Creating a friendly and warm environment and working closely with other staff members;
- Working as part of a team, identifying areas where participant’s needs could be better met; and,
- Demonstrating an understanding of Imaginative Human Services’ Vision and Mission statement and conducting oneself in line with the organisation’s values.

**Other requirements of the role are as follows**:

- Must be willing to travel to **South Brisbane QLD, North Brisbane/Moreton QLD and Gold Coast QLD **for shift work
- Ability to do shift work and in-home sleepovers
- Working with Children Card (Blue Card)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’
- Covid-19 Infection Control Training
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
- Australian Driver’s license of at least Provisional 2 level
- First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Medication Administration Training or willingness to obtain
- Epilepsy Training or willingness to obtain
- Ability to accommodate roster changes and on call requirements at short notice; we endeavour to complete rosters up to two weeks in advance, though changes may occur due to the nature of the work
- Ability to participate in team meetings, staff meetings, training, and supervision, as required
- Comprehensive Car Insurance
- Ability to complete reports and other business processes via web-based systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including negotiation, networking, and ability to draft shift reports
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise work requirements to ensure reporting is completed on time.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $31.60 - $51.90 per hour
