**Corporate Affairs Advisor**:
Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

**Who we’re looking for**:
Be a crucial support in our Corporate Affairs team, including working on internal and external communications programs and associated administration, and day to day media management. This is a fixed term for 12 months.

The Virgin Australia Group Corporate Affairs team comprises best-in-class communications professionals. The team are champions of Virgin Australia Group’s public image in news media, initiators of media and stakeholder communications, as well as play a key role in providing an organisation-wide understanding of the company’s commercial and strategic aims, and play a critical role in supporting any crisis the organisation faces.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Assist with the development and implementation of proactive internal and external communication programs across all of our channels.
- Support reactive internal and external communications that are critical to the reputation of the Group and its leaders.
- Help with managing and responding to media requests.
- Assist with drafting of press releases, pitches, speeches, internal notes to staff, briefing notes and other related communications materials.
- Support the planning and management of events.
- Collaborate with the Head of Corporate Communications and Head of People Communications, as well as other departments in the organisation.
- Maintain the Communications Calendar to ensure key events and milestones are coordinated and proactively communicated.
- Help with planning content and developing messaging.
- Contribute to the VA Newsroom and media lists (through Telum).
- Monitor the Public Affairs inbox and escalate enquiries.
- Monitor media and internal communications channels.

**You’ll be great in this role if you**:

- Proven experience in Public Relations, Media or similar.
- Experience working with media (essential).
- Must have a background working in an issues-rich, fast-paced environment.
- Proven abilities in creating and developing newsworthy content for media and owned channels.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and digital communications channels, including social media.
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent ability to build relationships.
- Multi-tasking and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications or Journalism degree (beneficial).

**What you’ll get from us**:
We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry - including (but not limited to):

- Heavily discounted air travel for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
- Flexible working arrangements (including work hours and work from home)
- Discounts on travel insurance, car hire, accommodation and experiences worldwide
- Discounted Virgin Australia Lounge membership
- Hospitality, retail, technology, beauty services and wellness discounts
- Wellness support, including the betterme digital wellbeing platform
- A comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, which offers confidential coaching and support from qualified professionals for all aspects of life - physical, mental, social and financial
- Dress for Your Day - enjoy the freedom to wear whatever is appropriate for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you

**Equality rules**:
**COVID-19**:
The safety and security of our people, guests and operations come first. Always. That’s why we’ve put together a comprehensive ‘Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy’. In a nutshell, to work with us, you’ll need to comply with our (and the airport’s) rules and regulations. And be fully vaxxed.
