A permanent full time Health Professional (Senior Scientist) position is currently available within Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology at our Macquarie Park laboratory to co-ordinate our metropolitan and regional branch laboratories.
The position is 38 hours per week. The working hours for this position are generally from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Friday).

Main duties include (not necessarily in order):

- Answering queries from branch laboratories regarding internal QC, QAP and inter-laboratory QC issues.
- Review and act on QAP subgroup reports.
- Help troubleshoot biochemistry platform issues, e.g. Alinity and blood gas analysers for the branch laboratories if required.
- Co-ordinate continuing education of branch laboratory staff.
- Implement new reagent, calibrator and quality control lots.
- Commission/implement new analysers/methods and prepare specimens for patient correlation studies.
- Co-ordinate point-of-care testing including onsite drug testing.
- Make supervisory visits to branch laboratories and attend NATA assessments as required.
- Attend Branch Laboratory and Supervising Pathologist Meetings.
- Communicate with Branch Laboratory Managers for any biochemistry issues requiring immediate attention.

The successful applicant must have completed a Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Science. Post graduate study in Biochemistry is desirable. The appointee must have at least ten years’ working experience in Clinical Biochemistry. He or she must be reliable, flexible and willing to work as part of a team.
