The Prospect Research Officer identifies,

undertakes research and analyses information

about current and potential donors. The

position contributes to the building of the

pipeline of prospects that supports fundraising

and philanthropic activities.

Under the direction of the Senior Development

Manager, the Prospect Research Officer

supports QUT’s fundraising efforts by

conducting prospect research, identifying new

major gift prospects, preparing reports and

profiles on donors and providing prospect

management support.

The position provides meaningful research and

insightful analyses that contribute to the

development and strengthening of

relationships between prospective donors and

the University.

The role will contribute to QUT’s fundraising

goals and KPIs, as determined by the

Executive Director, Advancement in

consultation with key stakeholders.

This position reports to the Senior
Development Manager for supervision,
workload management and for Performance
Planning and Review (PPR).

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Prepare profiles and briefings that identify

potential donors (individuals, trusts &
foundations and organisations) using a
variety of resources to ascertain giving
potential and matching with priority
projects while maintaining a high level of
accuracy and confidentiality
- Research and evaluate linkage or level of

connection to QUT of potential donors to
inform about their interest, ability or
financial capacity to give.
- Maintain data integrity and quality of donor

and prospect information by updating the
CRM (PEP) promptly.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests

for research and information from
fundraisers to support activity, identify new
prospects and/or areas of focus.
- Develop and maintain effective working

relationships with colleagues across
Advancement and QUT
- Work in conjunction with the Senior

Development Manager to review the
Prospect Development Framework to
ensure it supports the activities of QUT
Advancement
- Contribute and assist with Advancement

programs, initiatives and projects relating
to fundraising, as required.
- Evaluate and manage risks to the

University through good management
practices, and communication of
contractual matters.
- Compliance with health and safety policies,

procedures, hazard reporting and safe work
practices.
To ensure job flexibility the successful
appointee may be required to:

- perform any other duties as nominated by

the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;
- participate in job rotation or multiskilling in

consultation with their supervisor;
- work across campuses

**Type of appointment**

This appointment will be offered on an
ongoing, full-time basis.

Selection Criteria

1. Education, training and/or relevant
experience equivalent to completion of a
degree with subsequent relevant
experience preferably in the areas of
research, fundraising or business
development.

2. Highly developed analytical and problem
- solving skills with a strong attention to
detail and proven ability to research and
critically evaluate information to identify
opportunities, provide recommendations
and support initiatives.

3. Demonstrated effective communication

and interpersonal skills with the ability to
collaborate and develop effective working
partnerships with colleagues and
stakeholders.

4. Demonstrated highly developed written

communication skills with proven ability to
draft, proof and prepare clear and concise
documents including briefings and profiles.

5. Demonstrated ability to develop processes

and systems to manage prospect
information while striving for continuous
improvement.

6. Proven organisational skills including the

ability to schedule and prioritise tasks
efficiently to meet deadlines and to work
effectively both autonomously and
collaboratively within a team.

**Remuneration and Benefits**

The classification for this position is Higher
Education Worker Level 6 (HEW6) which has
an annual remuneration range of $96,955 to
$104,981 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual
salary range of $81,928 to $88,710 pa, 17%
superannuation, and leave loading.
