**About the role**:
As the Principal Approvals Officer you will play a pivotal role in providing advice on the legislative requirements for environmental, planning, and other approvals from Government bodies. You will also develop and implement systems and procedures to assist in obtaining approvals and land acquisition.

Your key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

- Provide specialised development and environmental approvals advice for Unitywater projects in the planning, design, and delivery phases.
- Develop, evaluate, maintain, and monitor relevant operational systems, work practices and procedures to manage the approval and related compliance and reporting processes as projects move through the various phases.
- Manage external approvals and environmental consultants, and support Project Managers who have engaged external consultants, including engagement, scope definition and managing delivery of outputs in terms of time, scope, cost, and quality.

- Experience in interpreting and providing advice on environmental and planning approvals and land acquisition requirements.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of current and complex approvals processes and environmental legislation.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of government procedures and practices relating to approvals, environmental management, and land tenure.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as town planning, environmental science / management and/or law.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a proven ability in consultancy and negotiation with government regulators, and a strong focus on quality customer service.
- Well-developed investigative, analytical and research skills.
