Melbourne Airport Rail is a transformational public transport project connecting Melbourne Airport to Victoria’s regional and metropolitan train network. The Sunshine Systems Alliance (SSA) which involves John Holland, CPB Contractors, AECOM, KBR, Alstom, Metro Trains Melbourne, V/Line and Rail Projects Victoria will deliver one of the project’s largest works packages. The SSA will help transform Sunshine station into a transport superhub and will construct a new flyover at Albion to separate airport trains from metropolitan and regional services. The package also includes high-capacity signalling, traction power, rail control systems and an automatic train supervision system, as well as communications systems and systems integration and assurance.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Safety Advisor to join us on the journey.

**About the opportunity**:
Travel to the site office may be a requirement for this position.

**Some of the things you will be doing**:

- Develop processes, implement, and monitor programs to provide a safe working environment for all personnel
- Conduct health and safety audits and inspections as per audit schedules and risk profile of the works
- Support delivery team and ensure compliance to the project construction documentation processes; provide specialist advice during its development and monitor implementation in the field
- Undertake regular safety monitoring activities, ensuring compliance with safety management systems, contractor agreements and contracts, relevant legislation, and business requirements
- Participate in and guide contractors and stakeholders during on-site safety engagements, inspections, audits and the like
- Coordinate and conduct safety training/workshops, assessments and inductions for management and project team members
- Support the implementation of the project’s safety strategy and associated actions /programs
- Facilitate and coordinate relevant safety meetings and forums for project team members, stakeholders, and contractors
- Coordinate and lead incident investigations to determine causes and mitigating and preventative measures. Overseeing and managing the appropriateness and level of implementation of such measures; with ongoing monitoring of compliance

**You have**:

- Diploma or higher in Safety or related field
- 3+ years in Safety roles in high-risk construction or other high risk industry.
- Previous experience working with a tier 1 or 2 will be highly desirable.
- Extensive experience in workplace and contractor safety management processes within complex environments.
- Well-developed understanding of the interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading incident investigations including the development of reports and close out of corrective actions
- Experience in undertaking safety inspections and other safety monitoring activities including the development of audit reports and closing out of corrective actions
