**Role Description/Criteria**

The Learning Support Officer role at St James Catholic Primary School involves supporting children and staff where adjustments are required for children to access the curriculum. The position will involve working in a variety of support structures, including one to one, small groups and in-class support with students with diverse needs. The successful applicant will need to work under the direction of the Leadership team, specifically the Learning Diversity Leader, and classroom teachers.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:

- demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education
- have relevant qualifications in education support within a primary school setting
- demonstrate understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
- be caring, collaborative and enthusiastic
- be able to build and maintain professional and appropriate nurturing relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- be able to maintain confidentiality
- have a current Working with Children check and National Police check
- be flexible in carrying out a variety of tasks
- have strong administration and documentation skills
- demonstrate initiative

**Application Procedure**:** Special Requirements**
- Current VIT registration
- Child Safety - be familiar with and comply with the schools child safe policy and code of conduct and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety.
- Accreditation to teach Religious Education
- Interviews may commence prior to the closing date for suitable applicants._
