**Why Your Role Matters**
The Intelligent Systems for State and Societal Resilience Hub (ISSSRH) is a team of digital technical experts, thematic (security-development) experts, and associated academics addressing the challenges of vulnerable states. The team works with local partners in high priority sectors within such societies - codesigning, building, and deploying technical platforms and solutions to increase their agency (ie collective impact of local change agents) through greater access to resources, information, and informed decision-making. The ISSSSRH is attached to the School of Systems & Computing. The **Research Associate in AI, Machine Learning, Data** **Analytics or User Interaction** works as a member of the Hub’s technical team to design, develop, and deliver Intelligent System solutions to local partners in high priority sectors. The Research Associate reports to the Hub’s Lead of Innovation and has no direct reports.

**Who You Are (skills and experience)**:

- A PhD in a related discipline (AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, User Interaction), and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Capability to develop software solutions within the research field, independently or as part of a small team.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
