**ABOUT THE ROLE**

As R&D Manager, you will be accountable for regulatory compliance, coordinating and developing the delivery of innovation plans across the organisation's contract manufacturing portfolios. This role is key in the development of new variants and product improvements in the laboratory, as well as managing the NPD process across multiple brands.

**RESPONSIBILTIES**
- Lead the business in developing Technical innovation to support customer requirements;
- Manage the product development process to ensure that customers' projects meet agreed timelines;
- Be accountable for the quality of prepared product samples and improvements of current products, in the laboratory;
- Develop the capability of the team to deliver the required technical support to the business;
- Ensure the R&D team coordinates the updating of product formulations in line with business processes;
- Ensure that all proposed formulations are compliant with current and relevant regulations;
- Keep abreast with changes in legislation and regulations pertaining to raw materials, products and labelling applicable to products;
- Ensure that the Supply Chain has the necessary direction and support to produce the innovations for all assigned sourcing sites;
- Lead technical audits as required.

**SKILLS & EXPETISE**
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Chemistry, or equivalent;
- Strong preference for a PhD qualification in a relevant field;
- Have a strong background in managing an NPD or brand rejuvenation projects, as well as experience with TGA products and licensing;
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in the development of skincare/cleaning - especially in the areas of skin and sun care;
- Sound level of knowledge of how manufacturing works and basic knowledge of the regulatory and packaging requirements in lifestyle products;
- Previous experience in leading technical audits is essential;
- Have a strong background in product formulation and a history of successful product launches;
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Sound knowledge of product quality and stability protocols is essential;
- Be able to work with cross-functional partners and work collaboratively with the marketing team and other cross-functional teams.
