**Job Overview**:
Payroll Services is responsible for the timely and accurate administration of payroll for the Department and shared services clients.
Payroll Officers undertake a range of general payroll processing functions and provide advice on payroll related matters. You will work independently and as part of a team under general direction within established parameters, policies, and delegations. The focus is to ensure salaries are paid correctly and on time. You will liaise regularly with managers and staff on payroll matters.
**Duties will be**:
- Under limited direction, administer the accurate and timely processing of the fortnightly payroll including employee pay variations, superannuation, employee movements, commencements and separations using Aurion.
- Ensure payroll checklists and procedures are followed in full.
- Complete allocated workloads and checking in designated timeframes as required within the team to ensure deadlines are met.
- Provide feedback to team members on checking performed.
- Provide feedback to the team leader on issues of time management, resources and client escalations.
- Actively contribute to positive team relationships and provide assistance to other team members.
- Positively contribute to business improvement initiatives, implementation and review of systems, policies and procedures.
- Customer service excellence - resolve and address any payroll queries in an efficient and professional manner.
**Job capabilities**:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in the delivery of quality payroll services
- Employ good judgement and sound problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Well-developed communication and liaison skills
- Personal qualities of tact, discretion, and sound judgement
- A sound working knowledge of Aurion and Microsoft Office is desirable
