The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community
About the role
Manage work teams to ensure that staff attend professional development programs, are rotated to maximise their learning opportunities, knowledge and skills and are provided with regular feedback regarding their performance.
- As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, ensure the appropriate performance of all legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day operations of the Court registry, under limited direction.
- Provide information and authoritative advice on court procedures, practices and protocols to all court users and represent the Court at forums and committees when required, to convey specialist concepts and policies.
About you
- Demonstrates knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals.
- This role has significant technical components as well as team leadership and people-management, including the supervision of registry staff and responsibility for their professional development and performance feedback.
- Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.
