**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Liverpool City Council (Council) has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Survey Assistant to join our Civil Engineering Design and Survey team. The purpose of the position is to provide support to the Engineering Surveyor to carryout topographical / engineering surveys to enable infrastructure design, and set out services to enable infrastructure construction, for delivery of Council’s capital works program.

**Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following**:

- Investigations of Council records for road, drainage, sewer, deposited plans and benchmark information to contribute to preparation of field surveys or for supplying such information to various other stakeholders within the team and external parties as directed by Coordinator Civil Engineering and Survey.
- Preparing pre-survey documentation such as Site Survey Marks, Permanent Marks, relevant old survey information and Work-as-Executed drawings.
- Assisting surveyor on site by looking and where necessary digging for the SSMs and PMs.
- Assisting Surveyor on site for survey works including setting up survey equipment and pegging out.
- Requesting underground service maps (DBYD) from relevant services authority to provide them to Designer.
- Use of computer programs such as AutoCAD, Civil CAD and 12d for plotting surveys, DBYD information, GIS data and survey plans.
- Maintain Survey database.
- Assist Surveyor to facilitate searching of survey marks and services in the field.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services or related field or sufficient experience in the related field.
- Demonstrated experience as survey assistant with ability for accuracy and attention to detail.
- Technical knowledge and experience of engineering surveying methods, equipment and handling of the equipment.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to make safe decisions while working outdoor.
- The ability to work with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
- Experience and ability to work in a team environment.
- Class C Drivers Licence
