**About the Business**

Our Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation team provides strategic policy advice and drives the transformational change required to implement the National Agreement on Closing the Gap within DHS and ultimately improve life outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities.

**Role Details**

The Principal Policy and Partnership Officer is a role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Director, Closing The Gap policy and Transformation for:

- Embedding the four Closing the Gap Priority Reforms and building staff capability to deliver actions to improve the socio-economic outcomes OHS has responsibility for.
- Providing strategic advice on proposals, policy, programs and research that affects Aboriginal people and services under Closing the Gap, particularly for Aboriginal children, youth, families and communities.
- Partnering with directorates across the Department to assist with monitoring and reporting on Closing the Gap progress to maximise efforts and reduce departmental duplication of effort.
- Building key working relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, non-government and government stakeholders.

Key Outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Conduct research and analysis on significant policy positions on Aboriginal communities and social policy issues.
2. Prepare high level policy papers, submissions, briefs and notes on complex policy issues including Cabinet submissions.
3. Prepare high quality written documents, including briefings and reports to a range of stakeholders within the required deadlines.
4. Engage, partner and negotiate widely with all relevant stakeholders to facilitate high quality policy and project development outcomes.
5. Monitor and assess national trends relevant to the strategic direction of the Division and Department.
6. Facilitate and coordinate Departmental input into whole-of-government work on Closing the Gap and all policies affecting Aboriginal peoples.
7. Build credibility and work authentically with the Aboriginal community.

**Special Conditions**

**Role Status**: Term up to 30/09/2025

**Salary Range**: $108,109-$116,864 (ASO7)

**Location**: Adelaide Metro
