**About the Role**

The International Tax Branch within Treasury is seeking an EL2 to fill the position of Director.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a unit that is focused on key policies of the Government, including Multinational Tax Integrity and Tax Transparency.

The International Tax Branch is responsible for the rules that govern how Australia’s tax system interacts with those of other countries, including providing policy advice on the Government’s election commitments regarding multinational tax integrity and transparency.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for:

- Managing a team of Assistant Directors and Analysts
- Addressing international tax policy issues, such as
- Advising on and implementation of multinational tax integrity policies
- Reviewing Australia’s foreign income attribution regime
- Addressing withholding tax issues
- Monitoring country-by-country reporting and addressing any policy issues
- Working on taxation aspects of Free Trade Agreements
- Multinational Tax Transparency
- Addressing concerns with foreign resident CGT
- Supporting Treasury Executives in international engagements
- Attending and contributing to leadership discussions within Treasury
- Liaising with other Government agencies and keeping across international issues for tax aspects (such as the current situation in Ukraine)
- Managing business-as-usual work for the unit, such as Senate Estimates briefing and Ministerial Correspondence
- More generally, you will have broad responsibility to work as part of Branch leadership to monitor and respond to international tax policy issues.

Required skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated experience managing a high performing team of people in a collaborative and supportive way including the ability to deliver to tight timeframes.
- Superior ability to identify and communicate with relevant stakeholders (internal and external) ranging from other jurisdictions, industry bodies and academics.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**
1. Previous experience in corporate and/or international taxation matters would be highly advantageous.

**Eligibility**

Employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian citizens and must hold a current security clearance or successfully complete a clearance prior to commencement.
