Canberra, Australia Australian Government Department of Defence Full time

$78,143 - $97,790 (plus Super)
- Canberra - ACT

**The Role**
The Hunter Class Frigate Branch Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking project management practitioners to perform risk management, performance reporting, contract administration, and other project management coordination and support roles.

You will significantly contribute in delivering the ambitious project objectives for SEA 5000 Phase 1, Hunter Class Frigate Design and Construction. In these positions you are part of an integrated PMO performing complex project management activities.

Success in these project management roles requires collaboration with a diverse range of professionals from different backgrounds and environments.

**About our Team**
The Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) represents one of the most advanced warships in the world with cutting edge technology and capabilities. As Australia’s largest shipbuilding project, HCF represents the cornerstone of Australian Continuous Naval Shipbuilding.

We work with experts from the UK, the USA, Canada and Europe to solve highly complex challenges in construction at the newly designed Osborne Naval Shipyard, utilising the latest production technologies, including robotic welding. The design and acquisition strategy currently employed by the HCF Project is new to the Department of Defence and progresses upon the traditional systems engineering approach to design, acquisition and project management.

To optimise the technology, the shipbuilding industry is growing and training a workforce to meet the challenges. Contributing to the HCF Project will encourage you to be cooperative, collegiate, innovative and decisive through building key stakeholder collaborative relationships.

You will have access to generous working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. Information on Defence employees’ working conditions, including an attractive remuneration package with a generous superannuation contribution (15.4%), can be sourced from the Defence Enterprise Agreement.

To become a part of the HCF Branch PMO you will need to demonstrate a level of competency and experience of managing within a significant project. You will also need to exhibit proven capability in developing and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Your personal attributes should include - self-motivation, high standards, pursuing tasks to completion and attention to detail.

In leading to meet cost and quality you need to show resilience and a positive attitude towards solving complex challenges. Further you possess enthusiasm to engage and collaborate, be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to changing plans and priorities. You will require excellent written and oral communication skills.

Contributing to HCF will help you to develop your project leadership capability and experience, based upon your existing exposure to Defence or a similar large scale matrix style project based organisation.
