About the role
- Manage a team of regulation analysts in the delivery of registration, regulation, and intervention in accordance with the Housing Act 1983, Performance Standards and Intervention Guidelines.
- Monitor the business performance and financial viability of a portfolio of regulated agencies against Performance Standards, providing authoritative advice to the Housing Registrar on individual agencies and sector performance.
- Identify emerging issues, trends and areas of potential conflict impacting the achievement of regulatory objectives and effectively manage these risks.
- As a member of the Housing Registrar Management Team, provide leadership on matters of planning, change management, developing business goals and strategies and the overall service delivery performance of the team.
- Plan and manage key strategic projects across the Housing Registrar that improve service delivery and reduce the regulatory burden on agencies.
- Interpret broad policy frameworks and provide authoritative and strategic advice to the Director and Managers and where appropriate the Departmental Executive, relevant Minister/s and stakeholders in the social housing industry.

About you
You have a background in finance with an interest in supporting regulation activity to provide better outcomes for the community housing sector. You have strong communication skills with the ability to draw insights and provide recommendations to senior leaders to support effective decisions for Government.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Strong leadership skills and experience gained through directly managing staff and contributing to the performance of a high performing team, and positive and collaborative culture.
- Experience in a financial, regulatory, compliance, accreditation or licensing environment,
- Demonstrated proficiency in accounting/ finance with strong commercial acumen and analytical skills (CA, CPA or equivalent preferred).
- A strategic thinker that can produce innovative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems, including the effective use of data.
- Demonstrated experience in developing strong working relationships and communicating with and influencing a range of different stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of the social housing and not for profit sector (or capacity to rapidly acquire that knowledge).
- Possess a relevant tertiary qualification in finance or accounting, with postgraduate qualifications from a recognised accounting body such as CA, CPA or equivalent
