**Position Information**:
Terrigal Public School is a dynamic, community-focused school with a history of providing rich academic, sporting and cultural programs. The school currently has 920 students (including 43 Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and 27 EAL/D students) and has experienced rapid growth over the last few years. We have 38 classes, including 3 support classes which are seen as an integral part of the school. There is a strong emphasis on inclusion and student well-being. Individual student learning is important in the school, especially in establishing connections with families to design aspirational learning pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Our diverse school community expects and receives a high quality, challenging, balanced and stimulating education for their children. The innovative use of digital technology to enhance learning, communication and professional learning is a continuing focus of our school. Our school improvement plan focuses on academic growth, high expectations and strong systems for student success. A passionate and supportive P & C, strong links with the Kuriwa AECG and Terrigal Learning Alliance all enhance our school’s reputation.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary:
1. proven ability to harness and foster leadership capacity and development, building effective teams and enriching the school's existing high expectations culture.
2. An open, inclusive & inspiring leader with high emotional intelligence to genuinely engage and build strong, authentic connections with our school community to deliver and maintain school excellence.
3. Capacity to manage competing priorities in a large, complex school whilst nurturing a culture of achievement, belonging and care for continuous school improvement.
4. Demonstrated high level leadership in driving effective student wellbeing initiatives that strengthen the engagement of all students including students with disability, complex behaviours and additional needs.
5. High level instructional leadership to drive school strategic planning and evaluation.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
