**As a Principal Advisor (Learning and Development), you will**:

- Build and maintain cohesive and functional relationships across the Local Government Division (LGD) to deliver the shared objectives of the Division and promote a 'one LGD' environment.
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of capability development and other adult learning programs, using a diverse range of methods to support local governments with legislative obligations and help foster good decision-making and governance practices.
- Contribute to the co-ordination of training and professional learning and development engagements for local governments across LGD to agreed standards and within agreed timeframes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's local government capability development framework to help build and support the sustainability and integrity of local governments and foster public confidence in the local government system.
- Lead the preparation of timely and accurate reports, briefs and advice on the training and professional development programs delivered by LGD (e.g. for corporate reporting and continuous improvement purposes).
- Provide expert advice on learning and development and local government matters, to Local Government Division officers, senior departmental officers, local governments and other stakeholders.
- Maintain an advanced knowledge and understanding of the local government sector in order to develop and coordinate capability initiatives for the Department on a range of matters.
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local governments and councillors, peak and professional bodies such as the LGAQ, LGMA and the Australian Local Government Women's Association and registered training organisations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement training policies, systems, processes and tools to ensure they evolve with business requirements.
