**What's the purpose of the role?**
You’ll bring your design superpowers and self-starting attitude to this product where you’ll be thinking about how to improve the simplicity of the user experience, designing customer journeys that link across our Assessment portfolio and solving new challenges like how to create a great student experience. You’ll be working with a cross-function team of product managers, engineers, support teams, and account teams to support them across all stages of the design process. You’ll also be part of a growing design community at RM who are working to shamelessly promote the benefits of using design methodologies to solve problems.
**What does the job entail?**
- Working closely with the Senior Product Manager for this Product to articulate user needs and designing solutions for them
- Planning and conducting user research & usability tests and using the right method for the job
- Working with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into working products
- Actively promoting design methodologies that lead to good outcomes for the cross-functional team
- Facilitating and leading workshops with customers and internal teams
- Producing design assets such as user journeys, workflows, personas, wireframes and prototypes - and knowing which ones are right for the job
- Working with other UX and UI designers to produce design assets and handover files for the developers.
- Being an active member of the design community, sharing best practices and tools with the team and promoting design across the wider business
- Leading on all aspects of design within the team - being the design expert in everything you do
- Coaching and supporting junior members of the team
- Ensuring consistency of design across the product
**What are we looking for?** Key skills**
- Expertise in using design methodologies to solve user problems and improve customer experience
- You can produce quality designs to communicate ideas and solutions effectively, to both customers and internal stakeholders
- You can translate requirements into prototypes, obtain feedback and iterate on the design where necessary.
- Ability to engage with internal stakeholders, teams, and customers to identify problems and solutions
- Able to work with different teams to ensure we are solving the right problems
- Bringing empathy to everything you do - Asking why not what
- Ability to lead junior and non-designers on all aspects of the design process
- Always being driven by insight - either finding it or using it
**Experience**
- You’ve worked on complex products and successfully delivered impressive user experiences
- You’ve led the UX design on several successful projects
- You can demonstrate experience of using design methodologies to solve user problems, from discovering insights, to developing and testing prototypes with users
- We use Figma, so you should be confident with it
- You’ve got experience in designing and optimising user interfaces and journeys, preferably ones that nail the user experience
- You’ve designed and conducted design research projects, and facilitated workshops
- You can demonstrate an understanding of business metrics and the how to translate company goals and objectives into digital experiences
- You might have experience with using and contributing to design systems.
