
Principal Advisor

The primary focus of this role is to coordinate input to the national transport reform agenda to ensure that Queensland's policy objectives are reflected in reforms that impact the transport sector. This includes responding to emerging policy issues and building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders who are critical in the department's interaction with state and federal governments and transport bodies.
You will also be required to work across Government Partnerships in response to business needs to ensure the effective delivery of the broader Government Partnerships priorities and workload.
**Accountabilities include**:
- Providing high level advice and support to the Minister and Director-General to facilitate effective participation at Infrastructure and Transport Ministers Meeting, Infrastructure and Transport Senior Officials' Committee meetings, Austroads and other national transport meetings.
- Critically analysing complex policy options and advising on significant emerging state and national transport policy issues, including strategic priorities for Queensland.
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure TMR positions are reflected in state and national transport policy agendas.
- Represent TMR at intergovernmental meetings, and articulately and concisely present TMR positions.
- Writing cabinet submissions, briefing notes, reports, correspondence and recommendations on complex policy issues in relation to transport reform often in collaboration with the immediate team and stakeholders across TMR.
- Providing quality and timely briefing materials for the Minister, the Director General and senior executives in relation to national transport policy issues through manager and senior leader and ensuring adherence to government conventions, policies and processes.
- Working collaboratively and constructively within the Government Partnerships team to contribute to a strong, cohesive and high performing work unit including supporting Manager State and National Partnerships in the delivery of team objectives.
- Actively participating in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance management.
