**Responsibilities**:

- Plan, implement and monitor WHS safety programs and initiatives
- Undertake incident investigations, internal audits and safety reviews, track appropriate actions to limit the recurrence of workplace injuries and incidents
- Create, implement and manage registers on all injuries, incidents and near misses
- Participate in the ongoing review and development of WHS processes, systems, procedures, proactively seek opportunities and areas for improvement
- Develop, maintain and review WHS documentation e.g. risk registers, risk assessments, incident reports, safety inspections, policies and procedures
- Ensure the provision of WHS services are aligned with legislative requirements, Australian Standards, and the expectations of KOI
- Provide WHS information, support and training to supervisors on how to undertake hazard management processes such as identifying safety hazards, performing risk assessments and implementing risk control measures
- In consultation with the Human Resources Department and Executive Management recommend and arrange safety materials and training
- Analyse WHS related information and prepare regular reports for the CEO and the WHS Committee or external authorities
- Assist with the preparation of annual WHS budgets, monitor expenditure and ensure funds are effectively utilised within budget constraints
- Coordinate the annual management review meeting and develop annual WHS management plans to achieve continuous improvement
- Promote an organisational culture and practices which create a work environment that provides for the WHS of all workers
- Undertake regular safety inspections of the workplace

**WHS Education and Training**
- Engage with management and staff on WHS issues and programs, communicate and promote effective WHS practices
- Determine the WHS training needs of the Council, then establish the training program
- Coordinate and ensure education systems are in place to achieve ongoing compliance and the maintenance of a safe work environment

**Injury Management and Workers Compensation**
- Assist in the injury management process by attending medical appointments with staff and developing and maintaining Work and Health Plans as required
- Monitor and analyse workers compensation claims and incident reports and develop appropriate responses, including preventative actions and WHS programs

**Essential**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification or certificates in WHS or related field
- Sound knowledge of relevant WHS Legislation, safety management systems and hazard management approaches
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the same or equivalent position
- Demonstrated experience in a professional safety role
- Demonstrated ability to investigate WHS problems and issues and recommend solutions
- Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare quality WHS documentations
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 22 per week
